🏡 Smart Home Guide

At the top of the tablet screen you'll see two thermostat badges - HVAC Main (main floor) and HVAC Master (upstairs). Tap either one to open its dial.

1. Tap the HVAC Main or HVAC Master badge at the top of the tablet to open the dial.
2. Drag the orange handle to set the heating temperature, the blue handle for cooling.
3. Or use the + / - buttons to nudge it a degree at a time.
4. Leave the mode on Heat/Cool (Auto) - the system picks heat or A/C automatically.

On the tablet, lights and ceiling fans are grouped by room. Tap any tile to turn it on or off.

1. Find the room card - Main Floor, Kitchen, etc.
2. Tap a light or fan tile to toggle it. Lit-up tiles are on.
3. Most exterior lights are on an automatic sunset timer - no need to touch them.
4. Physical wall switches work too, anytime.

🔊Speakers & Zones▼

Whole-home audio plays through speakers in the Living Room, on the Deck, and at the Dock.

1. Open the Media / Music page on the tablet.
2. Choose your speaker zones - Living Room, Deck, Dock, or Subwoofer.
3. Adjust volume and bass with the sliders.

Audio Input SelectAt the top of the Media page there's an Audio Input Select button. Use it to switch the source - for example to play the record player, or to swap back to TV audio if someone had been streaming music.

Turn off outdoor speakers in the eveningPlease switch off the Deck and especially the Dock speaker zones at night - sound carries a long way across the water and we want to be good neighbors.

🎵Record Player (Audio-Technica AT-LP60X)▼

This is a fully automatic turntable - it does all the delicate work for you. The #1 thing guests get wrong is trying to move the needle arm by hand. Don't. Just use the buttons and let it lower and lift itself.

🎵Switch Speakers to Record Player

Then just press START on the turntableThis button routes the record player through the house speakers for you. Once it's set, drop your record on, set the speed, and press the green START button on the turntable itself.

1. On the tablet's Media page, tap Audio Input Select and choose the record player (so it plays through the house speakers).
2. Lift the dust cover and set your record flat on the platter. For a small 45 with a big center hole, drop the 45 adapter over the spindle first.
3. Set the speed with the speed button - 33 for standard LPs, 45 for singles (it's printed on the record label).
4. Press the green START button. The arm lifts, swings over, and lowers itself onto the record automatically. Hands off - just wait.
5. When the side ends, the arm returns and stops on its own. To stop early, press STOP and let it return by itself.

Never move the tonearm by handLet the START and STOP buttons raise and lower it. Forcing the arm across the record scratches the vinyl and can bend the needle. If the arm is ever stuck partway, press STOP once and it'll reset itself.

Want to cue up mid-record?Use the small lift button to raise/lower the arm gently instead of pushing it - but honestly, START + STOP handles almost everything.

When you're doneWait for the arm to fully return, lift the record off, and close the dust cover to keep dust off the needle.

On the tablet's home screen you'll find the Exterior / Security card. This is where the dock, deck, and landscape lighting live.

1. Tap the Dock Power tile (anchor icon) to power up the dock. This turns on the water slide and the dock lights for the evening.
2. Tap Landscape Lights to control the yard lighting - you can toggle specific sets on or off, and change their color and brightness.
3. The Deck, Kitchen Deck, and driveway lights are also on this card if you want them on.

Ready to sing! Tap the button below and it'll turn on the Family Room TV, launch karaoke, and route the sound through the house speakers automatically.

Volume is on the TV remote

KaraFun's music plays through the living room house speakers, so use the TV remote's volume buttons to turn the karaoke up or down - not the app.

Join from your phone with the QR code

A QR code shows on the TV screen. Everyone can scan it with their phone camera to join the session - then browse the full song catalog and add songs to the queue right from their phone. No app install needed; it opens in the browser.

Where's the QR code?It only appears once you select the first song and start playing. From then on it stays visible on screen the whole time, so everyone can hop in whenever.

Adjust the audio while a song plays

Look at the far-right of the player for the audio/EQ icon (sliders). Open it to fine-tune the mix - lead vocal level (turn the guide singer up to learn a song, or down/off to sing it solo), backing vocals, and key & tempo. Great for matching a song to your range.

TipSet the lead vocal partway up if you don't know the song - it acts like a guide track. Slide it to zero once you've got it.

🎤 Add the Microphones (JBL PartyBox 720)

Want to sing into a real mic instead of just the app? The JBL PartyBox 720 speaker and its two wireless mics live in the living room. Tap through the 5 steps below - each one shows you exactly which button to press.

Turn on the speaker

Press the power button in the middle of the top control panel until the ring lights up.

Turn the main volume all the way down

Karaoke music plays through the living room house speakers - the TV remote controls that volume. The big Volume knob on the right only controls the JBL's own output, so twist it down unless you also want music blasting from the speaker itself.

Power on the mic receiver (dongle)

The small black receiver dongle plugs into the back of the speaker. Press its power button - the light should stay lit. If it doesn't light up, it needs charging with the USB-C cable.

Power on the mics

Press and hold the oval power button on the front of each microphone (just above the JBL logo) until it lights up. They connect to the receiver automatically within a few seconds.

Dial in the mic sound

Use the four small knobs on the top-left of the PartyBox to adjust the mic: Volume, Bass, Treble, and Echo (reverb). Start with Echo low and bring it up to taste.

Change the light show

The PartyBox has built-in LED lights that pulse to the music. Press the light button on the top panel (the star/bulb icon, far left of the button row) to cycle through the light patterns - keep pressing to find one you like, or to turn the lights off.

The gear icon at the top of the tablet opens the Settings page. You don't need to change anything here - it's mostly automatic - but here's what it does.

Smart Options is a set of automatic features that run the house for you:

• 🚶Back Deck Motion Lights - back deck lights turn on automatically when they sense movement.
• 🚶Front Motion Lights - front entry lights come on when someone approaches.
• 🚶Kitchen Motion Lights - kitchen lights turn on with motion.
• 🌇Auto Sunset Lighting - exterior lights switch on by themselves at sunset.

Some tiles double as live readouts for the house. You don't need to do anything with these - they're just there so you always know things are running normally. Here's what the little numbers and icons mean.

• 💧 Water pressure - the psi reading next to Main Floor is the home's live water pressure. Normal is roughly 50-70 psi.
• 🟢 Smoke alarm - the green indicator on the Main Floor card means the smoke detectors are online and all clear. Green is good.
• 🔒 Front door lock - the lock icon on the Exterior card shows whether the door is locked. You can tap it to lock or unlock.
• 📡 Internet speed - the download reading shows the current Wi-Fi/internet speed, so you can check the connection at a glance.
• 🚰 Water usage - the gallons reading on the Kitchen card tracks recent household water use.
• 🔥 Available hot water - the reading on the Master Bed card shows how much hot water is ready to go, handy before a shower.
