🏡 Smart Home Guide

Heat, lights & music - all from one screen

Everything in the house is run from the touchscreen tablet on the wall by the front door - heat & air, lights, and music. Tap the tablet to wake it, and use the guides below.
📱Prefer your own phone?
You don't have to use the wall tablet - you can control the whole house right from your own phone, tablet, or laptop. First connect to the ShaheenShore WiFi (this only works while you're on the house network), then open any web browser and go to:

ℹ️ Must be connected to the house WiFi - it won't work away from the property or on cell data.

Heating & Cooling

At the top of the tablet screen you'll see two thermostat badges - HVAC Main (main floor) and HVAC Master (upstairs). Tap either one to open its dial.

Thermostat badges at the top of the screen Main Floor thermostat control
  1. Tap the HVAC Main or HVAC Master badge at the top of the tablet to open the dial.
  2. Drag the orange handle to set the heating temperature, the blue handle for cooling.
  3. Or use the + / - buttons to nudge it a degree at a time.
  4. Leave the mode on Heat/Cool (Auto) - the system picks heat or A/C automatically.
Please keep it between 68-78°F. Set it back toward the middle when you head out for the day - the lake gets humid and the system works hard at the extremes.
💡

Lights & Fans

On the tablet, lights and ceiling fans are grouped by room. Tap any tile to turn it on or off.

Room light and fan controls
  1. Find the room card - Main Floor, Kitchen, etc.
  2. Tap a light or fan tile to toggle it. Lit-up tiles are on.
  3. Most exterior lights are on an automatic sunset timer - no need to touch them.
  4. Physical wall switches work too, anytime.
Dimming a lightFor dimmable lights, press and hold (long-press) the tile to open a brightness slider - then drag to set the level. A quick tap just toggles on/off.
A quick way to shut everything down at night or when leaving: tap off any lit tiles on the tablet, or flip the wall switches.

Music & TV

Whole-home audio plays through speakers in the Living Room, on the Deck, and at the Dock. Open the Media page on the tablet, pick your zones, and press play.

Audio input select and speaker zone controls
  1. Open the Media / Music page on the tablet.
  2. Choose your speaker zones - Living Room, Deck, Dock, or Subwoofer.
  3. Adjust volume and bass with the sliders.
  4. For the TV, use the Living Room TV card or the physical remote on the console.
Audio Input SelectAt the top of the Media page there's an Audio Input Select button. Use it to switch the source - for example to play the record player, or to swap back to TV audio if someone had been streaming music.
Turn off outdoor speakers in the eveningPlease switch off the Deck and especially the Dock speaker zones at night - sound carries a long way across the water and we want to be good neighbors.
Streaming musicWe'd prefer you stream natively through apps like Pandora or Spotify rather than Bluetooth. Just select Living Room as the playback device inside the app and you're set. (Bluetooth to the Living Room speaker still works if you need it.)
Watching TVThe TV has YouTube TV for normal live/broadcast channels. You're also welcome to log in to Netflix (or any streaming app) with your own credentials - just remember to sign out when you check out.

Exterior & Dock

On the tablet's home screen you'll find the Exterior / Security card. This is where the dock, deck, and landscape lighting live.

Exterior and Security card with Dock Power and Landscape Lights
  1. Tap the Dock Power tile (anchor icon) to power up the dock. This turns on the water slide and the dock lights for the evening.
  2. Tap Landscape Lights to control the yard lighting - you can toggle specific sets on or off, and change their color and brightness.
  3. The Deck, Kitchen Deck, and driveway lights are also on this card if you want them on.
Dock PowerThe water slide and dock lights only work when Dock Power is on. Turn it on before an evening swim - and please switch it back off when you're done for the night.
Landscape lightsLong-press the Landscape Lights tile to open the full color / brightness picker. Great for setting the mood on the water at night.

Settings

The gear icon at the top of the tablet opens the Settings page. You don't need to change anything here - it's mostly automatic - but here's what it does.

Smart Options auto-features pane

Smart Options is a set of automatic features that run the house for you:

  • 🚶Back Deck Motion Lights - back deck lights turn on automatically when they sense movement.
  • 🚶Front Motion Lights - front entry lights come on when someone approaches.
  • 🚶Kitchen Motion Lights - kitchen lights turn on with motion.
  • 🌇Auto Sunset Lighting - exterior lights switch on by themselves at sunset.
Home and Away buttons on the settings page
Please don't press “Away”The Home and Away buttons on this page are for us - you don't need either one during your stay. If Away is pressed it puts the house in away mode: it shuts the main water valve if it detects any water use, and turns off the HVAC and water heater. That means no A/C, no running water, and no hot water. Please leave these alone - if something looks off, just text us.

Sensor Info

Some tiles double as live readouts for the house. You don't need to do anything with these - they're just there so you always know things are running normally. Here's what the little numbers and icons mean.

  • 💧 Water pressure - the psi reading next to Main Floor is the home's live water pressure. Normal is roughly 50-70 psi.
  • 🟢 Smoke alarm - the green indicator on the Main Floor card means the smoke detectors are online and all clear. Green is good.
  • 🔒 Front door lock - the lock icon on the Exterior card shows whether the door is locked. You can tap it to lock or unlock.
  • 📡 Internet speed - the download reading shows the current Wi-Fi/internet speed, so you can check the connection at a glance.
  • 🚰 Water usage - the gallons reading on the Kitchen card tracks recent household water use.
  • 🔥 Available hot water - the reading on the Master Bed card shows how much hot water is ready to go, handy before a shower.
These are read-only indicators (except the door lock). If a number ever looks way off - like water pressure at zero - give us a text.

Anything acting up? A quick restart of the wall tablet usually sorts it - or just text us.
